Therapy
My Approach
I approach each patient compassionately and comprehensively. I aim to understand my patients’ experiences so I can determine the best treatment plan for and with them. Together, we decide what the next steps should be.
If medication is recommended, I spend time with patients and families, discussing their views on medication and the medication itself before prescribing anything. If I do prescribe medication, it is done in the context of seeing a person in therapy. I view medication as one part of a larger treatment plan and not the entire treatment itself.

Thank you for considering entrusting me with your care.
I recognize that taking the step to see a therapist, or even contact one, might feel intimidating or bring up other intense emotions. Finding the right therapist can take time, and I am happy to speak with potential patients on the phone to help determine if I might be a good fit.
Individual Therapy
My approach to psychotherapy—or what people refer to as therapy—involves forming a strong connection with my patients. I strive to create a non-judgmental environment so I can identify patterns of behavior and thoughts that might impact my patients’ lives. Through this process, I help patients better understand themselves and make positive strides.
In more technical terms, my approach is informed by psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy practices. I also draw on elements of cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and mentalization therapies, when appropriate. I aim to understand the emotional challenges my patients are facing, offer new perspectives, and provide support.

-
I meet with patients for 3-4 initial sessions to complete a thorough history and discuss a potential treatment plan. After that, we will transition into regular, ongoing therapy sessions, meeting at least weekly.
-
I first meet with the caregivers, then schedule a meeting or two with the child. I also spend time gathering information—with the family’s consent—from outside sources, such as the patient’s pediatrician and school. I then meet with the caregivers again and share my thoughts about treatment recommendations.
Please note that if the patient is a teenager, I meet with the patient and family briefly together first, then spend an initial session with the teen. I then meet with the caregivers alone for a session, before meeting with the teen again independently. After this, I meet with the parents and teen together to review my thoughts about a treatment plan.
-
If medication management is needed throughout the course of therapy, we will address and discuss any medication-related issues as they come up.
Couples Therapy
In couples therapy, I meet with both members of the couple present. I draw on various therapeutic approaches and strive to understand situations from the perspectives of both members of the couple. Together, we work to create effective strategies for the couple to use when navigating relational challenges and new life experiences.
